The Group has been based in Malta for three years and after obtaining it authorisation in January 2025, it has continued to organically expand its card issuance in the European market.
The Function
The Data Management and Business Information function is designed to drive timely, data-informed decision-making across IDT Finance by establishing robust data governance, quality management, and a data architecture. The function will identify, implement, and utilise fit-for-purpose tools to deliver the continuous insights, operational and management dashboards, and reporting required across the Group. Our ultimate goal is to leverage data as a strategic asset to drive business growth, optimise the client journey, and ensure seamless compliance across our regulatory authorisations.
Role Outline
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Data Management & Business Information will lead IDT Finance’s data strategy and champion a data-first culture across the Group. This role oversees data governance and the complete data lifecycle while delivering actionable business intelligence that drives the Group’s strategic objectives. Supported by a dedicated team, the position is accountable for transforming raw data into a trusted strategic asset, including selecting and managing the core systems and vendors needed to execute this vision.
Main responsibilities include:
– Champion a data-first culture across IDT Finance to optimise decision-making and support business growth;
– Establish, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Group-wide Data Governance Framework, including:
i. Data Strategy, Policies, Procedures and Accountabilities.
ii. Data Quality Management (‘DQM’) including data quality metrics, and automated validation workflows;

iii. Data Privacy, Security, and Storage Compliance, ensuring strict adherence to regulations (including GDPR and DORA) and establishing clear retention and storage policies;
iv. Metadata Management & Asset Cataloguing, including centralised Data Dictionaries, Business Glossaries, and Data Asset Inventories.
– Launch data governance programme initiatives, delivering high-quality training and communications in collaboration with relevant teams.
– Map and document all functional, operational, legal, and regulatory data requirements across all the Group’s functions and authorisations to ensure a unified and compliant data strategy and governance framework.
– Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data-related reporting solutions to ensure regulatory compliance, including but not limited to Financial Crime reports, CESOP, PSS, FATCA/CRS, Irish Stamp duty, Visa/Mastercard Quarterly Management Reporting, and Apple/Google Pay reporting.
– Ensure accurate data supply to support core business operations, specifically:
i. Financial reconciliations (via KANI);
ii. Transaction monitoring and AML (via Comply Radar).
– Design, implement, and maintain fit-for-purpose Business Information (‘BI’) and Management Information (‘MI’) tools and platforms to deliver real-time operational and management dashboards across the Group and deliver all required regular and ad-hoc BI/MI reporting and analysis.
– Manage deployed solutions and direct the implementation of new data solutions, including vendor and stakeholder engagement, to ensure continuous support and optimisation.
– Manage day-to-day relationships with data system vendors (data storage and data utilisation) including KANI and Comply Radar, acting as the primary liaison for issue resolution, configuration, and change requests.
– Manage day-to-day relationships with processors, acting as the primary liaison for data issue resolution, integration and change control.
– Track vendor and processor deliverables, ensuring timely execution and compliance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
– Act as a key data subject matter expert for the Group and Program Managers by developing a deep understanding of each processors’ data capabilities, data points and reporting capabilities to assist in processor selection and ensure necessary data feeds are secured for reporting.
– Define, maintain, and modernise core database schemas, integration frameworks, and cloud data platform programs (including APIs and ETL/ELT pipelines).
– Formulate and execute data and reporting test schedules for new products or services, including Program Manager testing, driving the necessary outputs in line with the Group’s needs.
– Manage and mentor junior data analysts to elevate technical and data capability and integrity across the Group.
– Evaluate and drive data readiness and governance for AI/ML enablement across the Group.
– Lead ad-hoc data supply and analytical projects as required by executive leadership.
Qualifications & Work Experience
We are looking for candidates with solid academic and/or professional background, holding a Malta Qualifications Framework Level 6 (bachelor’s degree) or higher in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, or relevant data-related area.
The candidate should also possess a minimum of six (6) years of working experience in data management techniques and standards, business intelligence, delivering high-quality data, and managing direct reports. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least twelve (12) years of relevant work experience in a senior role, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
Knowledge and Skills:
– Financial Services & Card Ecosystem: Proven background in Payments, Electronic Money Issuers or Banking, with hands-on exposure to Card Issuance, Processing, and Card Scheme systems (Visa and Mastercard).

– Regulatory & Compliance Frameworks: In-depth knowledge of PCI DSS, GDPR, DORA, and mandatory regulatory data reporting obligations (e.g., CESOP, PSS, FATCA/CRS, Financial Crime, and Scheme reporting).
– Technical Architecture: Broad technical understanding across data platforms, APIs, cloud infrastructure, database schemas, ETL/ELT pipelines, and back/middle-office systems.
– Data Analytics & BI: Strong data manipulation and querying skills using modern tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, DAX, Python) to extract and analyse complex datasets.
– Data Transformation & Reporting Systems: Hands-on experience in data transformation, ETL/ELT processes, and managing reporting systems.
